Fred C. NELSON rites Monday

Fred C. NELSON, former resident of the Fairfield community, died Friday at the Ottumwa Hospital after a lengthy illness. His home was at Lucas, Iowa.

Last rites will be at the Beardlsey Funeral Home in Chariton at 10 a.m. Monday after which the casket will be brought to Fairfield. The body will lie in state at the Raymond Funeral Home from 1 to 2 p.m. at which time a short memorial service will be held. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery (sic. 3rd.023).

Fred C. NELSON, 81, was born July 21, 1886, in a log cabin near Salina in Jefferson County. He was the son of Richard (sic. John Richard NELSON) and Olive Johnson NELSON (sic. Ollive JOHNSON NELSON).

He was married to Blanche ROOT in December, 1911, and she died in September, 1927. He later married Florence MOORE on Nov. 5, 1930, who survives.

Other survivors included two sisters, Mrs. Elsie SWANSON, Fairfield, and Mrs. Iowa DRIGGERS, Arlington, Va.; one brother, Dan NELSON, Clinton; one stepdaughter and four step grandchildren along with a number of nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
