DEATH TAKES HENRY SALTS
Henry Everett SALTS, 603 North Court St., died last night at the Veterans' hospital in Des Moines. SALTS, 45, had been in poor health for two years. He was taken to Des Moines by ambulance yesterday morning.
SALTS was born October 9, 1905 near Richland, the son of James and Ella SALTS. He was married to Helen SCOVEL at Wayland, Mo., March 15, 1940 and lived most of his life in Jefferson county.
A veteran of World War II, he saw four years of military service including duty in Alaska. He was employed for many years at the Iowa Malleable Iron Co. and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife and the following brothers and sisters: Earl SALTS, Ralph SALTS, Clifford SALTS, Stanley SALTS, all of Fairfield; Forrest SALTS, California, and Mrs. William BOYCE, Washington.
The body is at the Monger Funeral home where funeral arrangements are pending.

Note: Henry is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Old.P.073; his headstone includes the inscription for his wife, however she remarried at least once, to J. Bruce Hoffman, who died in 1981 and is also buried in this plot. The status of Helen isn't clear - if she remarried, died, and is buried elsewhere please contact the webmaster so that the local genealogy files can be updated.
Helen isn't known to be buried under either the Salts or Hoffman surnames as of this posting.
