Elmer MANNING

Elmer Andrew MANNING, 68, 809 Grand Park Drive, died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Kaufmann officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call beginning at noon Thursday and family visitation will be from 7 to 8 that evening. Memorials have been established to the American Lung Association and the Iowa Heart Association.

MANNING was born April 14, 1919 in Jefferson County, the son of Collins and Florence KELLEY MANNING. He moved from Jefferson County to Des Moines in 1948 and lived there until 1970 when he moved to Ankeny. He was a sheetmetal worker for Waldinger Sheetmetal in Des Moines for 33 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks Lodge and Eagles Lodge. He married Wilma HUDSON KIGER Dec. 31, 1970. They moved to Fairfield in 1984.

Surviving are his wife; two stepsons, Dean KIGER of Audubon, Dennis KIGER of Coon Rapids; five stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Richard MANNING of Fairfield, Dean of Tucson, Ariz.; four sisters, Mildred MANARY of Fairfield, Dorothy PARR of Mesa, Ariz., Juanita JENNINGS and Joan WINGATE, both of Ottumwa. A brother preceded him in death.
