Former Fairfield Resident Passes In Missoula, Mont. Hospital
Ed A. YOUNG, 78, passed away yesterday morning at the hospital in Missoula, Montana where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. Mr. YOUNG went to Missoula from Beckwith about two months ago.
The body will arrive in Fairfield Monday afternoon, accompanied by a sister, Miss Olive YOUNG. It will be taken to the Hoskins Funeral Home. The funeral arrangements are pending Miss YOUNG's arrival.
Mr. YOUNG was born October 16, 1869 in Jefferson county, on what is now known as the NADY farm. He was married to Miss Martha MCCORMICK who preceded him in death a number of years ago (sic. she died Dec. 6, 1916). For a number of years, Mr. YOUNG was most successfully engaged in the feed store business in Fairfield, at a location now occupied by the Yorkshire creamery. He was a life-long and devoted member of the Methodist church and an earnest student of the Bible.
One of a large family, Mr. YOUNG is survived by only two sisters, Olive and Nellie.
* Transcribed verbatim from microfilm image for genealogy purposes. I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.
Note: Son of Nathaniel W. YOUNG and Sarah E. GALLIHER YOUNG. While his obituary used 1869 as his birth year, that is not consistent with his being 78 years of age. Local genealogy sources use: born October 16, 1859 and died Sept. 10, 1937. Buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa. 2nd.008.
