ZAPATA, Manuel R. -- Manuel R. ZAPATA, 44, of Fairfield, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A memorial service was held this morning at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. According to the family's wishes, the body will be cremated.

Memorials may be made to the Manuel Zapata family and mailed to 702 W. Stone Ave., Fairfield 52556.

Mr. ZAPATA was born Dec. 28, 1965, in Weslaco, Texas, the son of Antonia and Margarita RAMOS ZAPATA. He married Geraldine QUINBY Oct. 26, 1996, in Aurora, Ill.

Mr. ZAPATA was a general laborer at Nelson Company in Fairfield.

Survivors include his wife; his mother of Fairfield; two sisters, Yolanda PEREZ and Sylvia RIVERA, both of Fairfield; and two brothers, Domingo ZAPATA of Ottumwa and Jose ZAPATA of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his father.
