HARRY SCOVEL DIES SUDDENLY

A well known Jefferson county farmer was found dead in his bed early this morning, having passed away sometime last night. He is Harry L. SCOVEL, 72, who resides on a farm three miles east of Libertyville.

County Coroner Jack RAYMOND was called to the SCOVEL home after the body was found by Mrs. SCOVEL about 5:30 a.m., but he said there will be no inquest. He said death came from natural causes.

Mrs. SCOVEL told the coroner her husband had been in his usual health, and that he worked about the farm yesterday as usual.

Last rites will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Weston Behner funeral home. Burial will be in Fell cemetery at Libertyville.

Harry L. SCOVEL was born November 16, 1877, at Ft. Madison, the son of the late George and Hester FRY SCOVEL. He lived practically all of his life on a farm in the Libertyville community, and was a member of the Bethel Methodist chuch (sic. church) west of Birmingham.

SCOVEL was united in marriage on December 24, 1898, to Mary E. BOOTH, who survives. The wedding took place in Fairfield.

Besides his wife, he is survived by the following children: Mrs. Bertha LAWSON, Fairfield; Leonard SCOVEL, Chariton; and Vernon SCOVEL, Fairfield. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren; a brother, Ira. C. SCOVEL, Fairfield; and a sister, Mrs. Elmer METZ, also of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
