Page TWO, Column 5MRS. HAMMOND, OLD RESIDENT, DIES SUDDENLY
Mrs. Cynthia L. HAMMOND, 84, well known old resident of this community, passed away suddenly about 9:00 last evening. Death was caused by a stroke. She had been in her usual good health until the time of her death.
She was born in Fairfield on July 30, 1860 and had lived here all of her life. Her husband, Dr. F. S. HAMMOND (sic. should be Samuel F. HAMMOND) passed away many years ago.
Mrs. HAMMOND was active in the work of the Congregational church for many years and joined the Presbyterian church after the Congregational church burned. She was an early member of the P.E.O. in which she had been active for over 50 years.
The family home was at 206 E. Briggs street where she lived until four and one half years ago when she went to make her home with Miss Luella Jones, 304 North Main street. She is survived by an only son, Philip B. HAMMOND.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, from the Monger funeral home. Dr. Curtis R. Douglass will officiate and interment will be in the Evergreen cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home until the time of the service.

To all whom it may concern:
Notice is hereby given that an instrument, purporting to be the last Will and Tesament of Cynthia L. HAMMOND, Deceased is now on file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court of Jefferson County, and that Friday, November 3rd. A. D. 1944 at 9:30 o'clock A.M. has been set for proof and final hearing of same.
Witness my hand and the seal of said Court, this 7th day of October, 1944.

Public Notice Is Hereby Given:
That the undersigned has this day been appointed and commissioned by the District Court of Jefferson County, in the State of Iowa, executor of the estate of Cynthia L. HAMMOND, Deceased.
All persons having claims against said estate are hereby notified to file them with the Clerk of said court, clearly stated and duly sworn to, and within legal time, preparatory to their being allowed or proved, and persons owing said estate are requested to make immediate payment to the undersigned and avoid costs.
