Charles ROSS Dies At 85

Charles H. ROSS, 85, longtime Jefferson County farm operator, died at 3:20 a.m. today at the Park View Care Center. He had been in failing health for the past six months.

Last rites will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne L. Bartruff officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

ROSS resided at 501 E. Burlington Ave. He was born Feb. 7, 1888 in Jefferson County, the son of John W. and Mary HAMMOND ROSS. He was married Dec. 10, 1939 to Ruth SIMPSON JONES. She preceded her husband in death Nov. 16, 1965.

ROSS was a 50-year member of Clinton Lodge No. 15, AF&AM, and Kaaba Temple. He was also a member of the Commandery.

Surviving are one son, Howard ROSS, Niles, Mich.; and two step-daughters, Mrs. LaVergne W. HARLAN, Mount Pleasant, and Mrs. Hilario NAVA, El Paso, Tex. Other survivors are two grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

One brother is deceased.
