McSORLEY, Maxine Joy -- Maxine Joy McSORLEY, 75, of Winfield, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at her residence.
A funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Charles Courtney officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Wapello.
Visitation is from noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family present from 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. McSORLEY was born April 7, 1935, in Wayland, the daughter of William Russell and Ferne Maxine MANNING JAMISON. She married Jimmie Lynn McSORLEY March 29, 1956, in Kingsley, Ga. He died Nov. 1, 1993, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City.
Mrs. McSORLEY's family moved to Winfield, and she graduated from Winfield High School in 1954. For a brief time following the McSORLEY's return to Iowa, Mrs. McSORLEY worked in the housekeeping department of the Mount Pleasant Mental Health Institute. For 20 years, she was a dental assistant for Washington Dental Associates in Washington.
Mrs. McSORLEY was a member of Winfield United Methodist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Winfield. She also was a member of Honda Gold Wing Motorcycle Association.
She enjoyed crocheting, painting portraits, completing crossword puzzles and reading the National Enquirer.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia COZINE and husband Noble "Cozie" of Winfield; two sons, Dale McSORLEY and wife Dawn of rural Mount Pleasant and Joe McSORLEY and wife Pam of Winfield; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary ADAMS; and one great-grandson.
