Carl UNDERWOOD

Carl UNDERWOOD, 73, of Ollie, died from injuries sustained in an accident at his home Friday, Aug. 6, 2010.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Prairie View United Methodist Church near Ollie, with the Rev. David Peterson, the Rev. Jane Jordan and the Rev. Denny Coon officiating. Burial will be in Ollie Cemetery.

Visitation will begin ar 4 p.m. today at the church, with the family present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials to Prairie View United Methodist Church or Ollie Volunteer First Responders may be left at the church or may be mailed to the family at 26224 320th St., Ollie 52576.

Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

Mr. UNDERWOOD was born Sept. 6, 1936, near Ainsworth, the son of Milbern R. and Julia M. KOEHLER UNDERWOOD. He married Jonita BAKER June 2, 1957, in Richland.

Mr. UNDERWOOD was a young boy when his family moved to Ollie, where he attended school and graduated from Ollie High School in 1956. He was a lifelong farmer until retiring in 2003.

Mr. UNDERWOOD was a member of Prairie View United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men and Packwood Lions Club.

He enjoyed working as a carpenter, boating and water skiing.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Julie UNDERWOOD of Runnells and Carla ERWIN and husband Ron of Nashua; one son, David UNDERWOOD and wife Amy of West Des Moines; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Richard UNDERWOOD of Ollie and Don UNDERWOOD of Coralville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Dwight.
