Special transcriber note:
Old Fairfield Cemetery was the first primary burial ground designated within the city limits of Fairfield, Iowa. Burials continued through the years, even after the establishment of Evergreen Cemetery in 1870 in acreage directly adjacent. It is believed that Winifred I DEMPSEY was the last sanctioned burial in Old Fairfield Cemetery.
Lot 145 is shared by John E. and Winifred DEMPSEY and their infant daughter, Lela Louise DEMPSEY, who was born and died in 1915.
