Florence May KELLER dies

Florence May KELLER, 89, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 1989, at Nelson Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 17, 1899, in Stockport, the daughter of Ora and Anna WILSON BROWN. She married Marion YARGUS in 1919 and he died in 1937. She married Ray GROVE in 1939 and he died in 1944. She married Marshall J. KELLER Oct. 24, 1948, and he died Oct. 5, 1982.

Mrs. KELLER was educated in rural schools near Stockport and lived most of her life in Van Buren and Jefferson counties. In addition to being a homemaker, she had worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Burlington and Fairfield Glove Co.

She had been a member of the Stockport Christian Church, the Woods Club in Bonaparte, the Sisters Club in Stockport and camp secretary of the local Royal Neighbors of America.

Mrs. KELLER is survived by a daughter Leona GARRETT of Mount Pleasant; a son Wayne YARGUS of Fairfield; four stepsons, Harold KELLER, Verne KELLER, Wayne KELLER, all of Fairfield, and Gerald KELLER of Bonaparte; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nine step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Vera KNOWLES of Fairfield, Irene TONKINS of Fairfield, Edna BRIDEN of Stockport and Marie KISLING of Keosauqua; and one brother Dale BROWN of Hillsboro.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nadine HAGANS, and three brothers, Lester, Forrest and LaVerne.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Kaufmann officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at the funeral home at noon Saturday. The family will be at the funeral home from 3-4 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may be made to the Stockport Library and Stockport Christian Church.
