COX, Wayne R. -- Wayne R. COX, 84, of rural Keosauqua, died at 10:50 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, in the emergency room at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial, with military rites by American Legion Beer-Barker Post No. 113, will be in Kilbourne Cemetery.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, where the family will be present from 6-7:30 p.m.

Memorials to Keosauqua United Methodist Church may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 18581 Lark Ave., Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. COX was born Feb. 2, 1926, in Bussey, the son of Leslie and Edith OOSTHOEK COX. He married Roberta STONEHOUSE May 11, 1946, in Mount Pleasant.

Mr. COX graduated from Selma High School. He worked as a carpenter in the Mount Pleasant area. He and his wife moved to their farm in the Pittsburg and Kilbourne area in 1947.

Mr. COX served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.

Mr. COX was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church. He was a past commander of American Legion Beer-Barker Post No. 113 of Keosauqua.

Mr. COX enjoyed flying. He had been a longtime member of NAVIONEERS Flying Club Midwest Chapter and was a former member of Keosauqua Flying Club.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Susan CUNNINGHAM and husband Jon of Cedar Falls; three sons, Robert COX and wife Danita of Letts, Roger COX and wife Melba of Ottumwa and Ronald COX and wife Amy of Mooresville, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Willis COX of Carlisle; and two sisters, Wanda CLARKE of Davenport and Wilma HUTCHINSON of Kansas City, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Walter and Warren COX.
