WALTER LITTLE, C.C.C. MEMBER, DIES SUDDENLY

Acute Attack of Appendicitis Fatal to Well Known Local Boy

Walter S. LITTLE, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred LITTLE, 901 West Stone street, passed away in the Government hospital in Fort Des Moines last night following an acute attack of appendicitis, according to a message received here.

No funeral arrangements have been made at this time.

His parents and Mrs. and Mrs. Elbert LITTLE left Fairfield at 8:30 o'clock this morning being called to Fort Des Moines by his illness, and at 9:30 o'clock a message of his death was received here.

Walter is well known in Fairfield having spent his entire life here. He attended the local grades and high school and just recently completed three years service in the Service company of the 133rd regiment of the Iowa National Guards. For the past seven months he has been in the Civilian Conservation Corp camp at Bunch, Iowa, in Davis county.

Besides his parents he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Harry of Galesburg, Ill.; Elbert, Horace, Ethel, Glenn (sic. Glen), Virginia, Ruth and Mildred, all of this city.

LITTLE RITES 2:30 TOMORROW

Rev. S.P. Williamson To Officiate; Military Services

Funeral services for Walter S. LITTLE, who passed away Thursday in the Fort Des Moines government hospital following an acute attack of appendicitis, will be held at 2:30 o'clock Suday afternoon from the First Christian Church, in charge of the Rev. S.P. Williamson.

Military services will be conducted and members of the Civilian Conservation Corp will act as pallbearers. Members of the old High school quartet will sing during the services. Burial will take place in Evergreen cemetery.

The body was brought to the Hoskins Funeral Home last night where it will lie in state until time for the services.

Walter had recently completed three years service with the Service Company of the 133rd Regiment, National Guard, and was placed on the reserve during his Citizen Conservation Corp connection. For the past seven months he has been a member of the C.C.C. camp at Bunch, Iowa.

Note: Previous cemetery transcriptions used October 27, 1933 as the death date. In reviewing the publication dates of his obituary and last rites, and the content of those items, the actual death date was more likely to have been on Thursday, October 26, 1933.
