William W. 'Bill' LEWIS

William W. 'Bill' Lewis, 88, formerly of Fairfield, died at 8:45 p.m. Monday, July 13, 1992, at Donnellson Manor Care Center in Donnellson (sic. in Lee County, Iowa).

The service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home, wht burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to First Augustana Lutheran Church at Lockridge.

LEWIS was born Jan. 13, 1904, in Fairfield, the son of William Wenman and Stella May COCKLEY LEWIS. He lived his life in Jefferson County until moving to Donnellson in 1985. He lived in the Glasgow community from 1940 until 1974, when he moved to Fairfield. A retired farmer, he had farmed in Round Prairie Township. He married Violet EKLUND on Sept. 12, 1923, in Fairfield. He was a member of First Augustana Lutheran Church, the Fairfield Keep Young Club, and a former member of the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors.

Surviving are his wife of the Donnellson Manor Care Center; two daughters, Doris Jeanne FRUEH of Donnellson, Marguerite Louise UNDERWOOD of Colorado Springs, seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard of Hillsboro, Ore.; two sisters, Katherine NORRIS of Holdrege, Neb., and Margaret BUNN of Bloomington, Ill. Four brothers, Frederick Burnham, Edgar, Robert and George, preceded him in death.
