THORNBURG, Delilah Fern -- Delilah Fern THORNBURG, 91, of New London, died at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at New London Nursing and Rehab.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, with the Rev. Rod Cooper officiating. Interment will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.

Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today at the chapel.

A memorial has been established for the Lowell Street Lights Fund.

Mrs. THORNBURG was born Oct. 2, 1918, in Lowell, the daughter of James and Jessie CONOR PARSONS. She married Burton E. THORNBURG July 28, 1940, in Kahoka, Mo. He died July 9, 1995.

Mrs. THORNBURG was a graduate of Salem High School. She was a farm wife all her life.

Mrs. THORNBURG was a member of the former Baptist Church in Lowell.

She was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. She enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn BUCHHOLZ and husband Larry of West Point and Marcia DRISH of Batavia; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Velma DAVEY of New London and Louise CONARD of Ruskin, Fla.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dale PARSONS; and one granddaughter.
