Virginia LARSON

Story City - Word has been received in Fairfield of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 30 near Marshalltown Tuesday in which Virginia LARSON,44, of Story City was killed.

Mrs. LARSON is the former "Gigi" TURNEY of Fairfield, and was an attorney with the Iowa Public Defender's office for Story and Marshall counties at the time of her death.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City. The service will be at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City.

Survivors include her husband, Fred LARSON; three children, John, Peter and Carrie; and her mother, Katherine "Kitty" TURNEY, now of Des Moines.

Virginia TURNEY LARSON

Virginia TURNEY LARSON, 44, of Story City died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center from injuries sustained in a car accident near Marshalltown.

The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City. The body has been cremated. Memorials can be made to her church or Roland-Story Community Schools. Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City is in charge of arrangements (ED. note: it isn't known to this contributor if the funeral home was owned by a member of Fred LARSON's family, or if the same surname is a coincidence).

Mrs. LARSON was born June 23, 1953, in Fairfield, the daughter of Dillon and Katherine VANDYCK TURNEY. She lived in Fairfield until moving to Story City in May 1978. She was an assistant public defender for the state's public defender's office. She married Fred LARSON on Aug. 7, 1977, in Fairfield. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, PEO, and Roland-Story School Board since September 1993. She was a graduate of Fairfield High School, University of Iowa and Drake Law School.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, John and Peter, both at home; one daughter, Carrie, at home; her mother of West Des Moines; and three sisters, Christine BURNS of Riverside, Kathryn ALLEN of Arlington, Texas, and Isabel HARRIS of Ames. She was preceded in death by her father.
