BOYD, Ray E. -- Ray E. BOYD, 63, of Milton, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Paul Rekward officiating and with military rites by American Legion Russell-Strait Post No. 483 of Milton. Cremation will follow the service.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 5-7 p.m.

A memorial will be designated by the family at a later time. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 1132 South St., Apt. 5, Ottumwa 52501.

Mr. BOYD was born April 2, 1947, in Ottumwa, the son of Willard "Boney" and Helen BARR BOYD.

Mr. BOYD graduated from Fox Valley High School in 1965. He attended Indian Hills Community College in Centerville and Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia. He had worked for the city of Milton and was plant superintendent for Mid-States Manufacturing Co. of Milton until retiring in 2003 due to his health.

Mr. BOYD served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1970. His service included time in Korea.

Surivors include special friend, Susan Boyd of Ottumwa; eight sons, Harold McCANN of Rushville, Neb., Hank McCANN and wife Fawn of Milton, Zachary BOYD and wife Wendy of Milton, Heath McCANN and wife Lois of Valentine, Neb., Justin McCANN and wife Diane of Manassas, Va., Simon BOYD and wife Karey of Fort Bragg, N.C., Michael BOYD of Fairfield and Tristan BOYD of Centerville; one daughter, Zenna BOYD of Ottumwa; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles BOYD of Milton; and one sister, Judy MARTIN of Cantril.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Willard Jr., Russell, Robert and Ted BOYD.
