GREINER, Edward W. -- Edward W. GREINER, 82, of Keota, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at the McCreedy Home in Washington, Iowa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa, with the Rev. Paul Appel officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries-St. Mary Cemetery in Keota.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held at 7 p.m.

A general memorial fund has been established.

Mr. GREINER was born April 9, 1928, in Keota, the son of Robert and Rosa ADAM GREINER. He married Kathryn MILLANE Dec. 28, 1968, in Fairfield.

Mr. GREINER graduated from West Chester High School. A lifelong resident of the Keota community, he farmed for 57 years.

Mr. GREINER served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.

He was a member of Keota Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4716, Knights of Columbus and St. James Catholic Church in Washington.

Mr. GREINER enjoyed fishing, hunting, sightseeing and having his family and friends visit.

Survivors include his wife; six children, Carol BIESANZ and husband Mike of McKinney, Texas, Sara CAROLAN and husband Liam of Park Ridge, Ill., Joan EDWARDS and husband Gary of Richmond, Va., Ed J. GREINER and wife Tandy of Keota, Karen CHRISTENSEN and husband Troy of Cedar Rapids and Kathy GREINER of Oswego, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Marie HAMMES of Fairfield, Madeline Mary GREINER of Omaha, Neb., and Dorothy WEBER of Washington; and one brother, Bob GREINER of Keota.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marge McMAINS.
