Rites for WIMPSETT

Funeral services for Grant WIMPSETT, 80, who died July 21 at Henry County Health Center, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Fairfield. The Rev. Robert P. Kelley will officiate. Burial will be in Pennington Cemetery, south of Sigourney.

The family will receive friends at the Behner Funeral Home Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m.

The son of John Marshall and Minnie REDMAN WIMPSETT, he was born April 11, 1890 in Nelsonville, Ky.

He married Viola BALES (sic. correct maiden name is BALES) July 4, 1910 in Ottumwa. The were married 68 years. She died March 2, 1979.

He was a retired farmer of Keokuk and Jefferson counties and also sold melons and fruit. He lived in Lockridge, Richland and Fairfield until he moved to the Pleasant Manor Care Center two years ago.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by five children: Homer WIMPSETT, Ottumwa, Marie SMITHART, Des Moines, Mattie MORRIS, Indianola, Betty ECKARDT, Fairfield, and Donna MICKEY, Little Rock, Ark.

He is survived by two sisters, Esther DIMMITT, Agency and Edna BREON, Hedrick; 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six children, four grand-children, four brothers and two sisters.
