FRITZ, Clifford J. -- Clifford J. FRITZ, 85, of Brighton, died at 1:02 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at United Presbyterian Home in Washington, Iowa.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church in East Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. Robert Striegel officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. and Prayers for a Christian Wake at 7 p.m.

Memorials to St. Joseph Church or United Presbyterian Home may be left at the church or may be mailed to the family at 1427 Redwood Ave., Brighton 52540.

Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home of Brighton.

Mr. FRITZ was born Aug. 11, 1924, near East Pleasant Plain, the son of Leo J. and Gertrude E. GELSKI FRITZ. He married Wanda C. SWIFT Aug. 22, 1951, in Washington.

Mr. FRITZ grew up in the area and graduated from Pleasant Plain High School in 1941. He was a farmer.

Mr. FRITZ was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Linda DAVIS of Mount Pleasant, Patricia BROKKEN and husband Mike of Lockridge and Rebecca FRITZ of Brighton; four sons, Dennis FRITZ and wife Julane of Indianola, Edwin FRITZ and wife Deb of Washington, Leo FRITZ and wife Missy of Brighton and Thomas FRITZ of Rifle, Colo.; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rosemary WORLEY of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Alfred John FRITZ; and one sister, Leona PAULEY.
