Elijah James 'Jim' WOOLUMS

Elijah James "Jim" WOOLUMS, 73, of Rochester, Minn., died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at home.

A service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Packwood Christian Church in Packwood, with the Rev. Dave Nolte officiating. Interment will be in Packwood Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with Masonic rites at 6:45 p.m.

Mr. WOOLUMS was born June 27, 1936, in Packwood, the son of Victor Vincent and Alma Elizabeth MELLOTT WOOLUMS. He married Marsha Jo VanKLAVERN Nov. 30, 1958, in Ottumwa.

Mr. WOOLUMS graduated from Packwood High School in 1953. He then spent three years in the United States Army; he served in Korea and was involved in atomic testing in Las Vegas, Nev. After graduating from the University of Iowa in 1967 with a business degree, he worked for Lake Center Industries and Republic Storage Systems. He and his wife retired to Rochester, Minn., in 2005. Mr. WOOLUMS was a firearms safety instructor for many years in Stewartville, Minn.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Eric WOOLUMS and wife Jan of Green Bay, Wis., and Gregory WOOLUMS and wife Wendy of Rochester, Minn.; eight grandchildren; one sister, Janice DuBOSE of Portland, Texas; and one brother, Samuel WOOLUMS of Santa Rosa, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Valerie.
