THOMPSON, Charles 'Charlie' -- Charles "Charlie" THOMPSON, 66, of Fairfield, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lisa Dietrich officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or the donor's choice. Online condolences may be sent via www.behnerfh.com.

Mr. THOMPSON was born Jan. 8, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Clarence Clifford and Hazel Margaret HAHN THOMPSON. He married Beverly Jean DAHMS July 16, 1977, at First Lutheran Church.

Mr. THOMPSON was a lifelong resident of the Fairfield community. He was employed by Thompson Electric as a television sales and serviceman from 1955-1977. In 1977, he joined the maintenance department at Arvin Meritor/Rockwell International and retired in 2002.

Mr. THOMPSON was a member of the Iowa National Guard from 1957-1965.

Mr. THOMPSON enjoyed biking and fishing with his family in the summer on Lake Belle Taine in Nevis, Minn. He also enjoyed country music, 50s Rock'n Roll and working on the computer.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; one daughter, Melissa LECHTENBERG and husband Wade of Davenport; and two sisters, Margaret MOSS and husband Fred of Fairfield and Alice PUDER and husband Jerry of Harper, Kan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry THOMPSON.
