Mrs. Edward F. WESTON, 73, rural route, Lockridge, died at 8:15 p.m. Thursday at the Fairfield Convalescent Home. She had been in failing health the past two years and seriously ill the past nine days.Last rites will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Hoyt Whitebread officiating. Burial will be in the Lockridge cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home. The casket will be taken to the church at noon Saturday.
Frances WESTON was born Feb. 15, 1895, at Krum, in Jefferson County. She was the daughter of Mark E. and Eva J. ARCHIBALD TOOTHACRE (sic. also spelled as TOOTHAKER). She was reared and educated at Middletown and Mount Pleasant and graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1918.
On June 10, 1919, she was married to Edward F. WESTON at Burlington, and moved to the home place in 1920. She taught in the Roosevelt High at Des Moines; she was a member of the Baptist Church; founded the Good Luck 4-H Club in Lockridge Township and was a member of Phi Mu Sorority at Iowa Wesleyan College.
Mrs. WESTON was formerly employed at the Fairfield Library and the Treasure House. Her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1950. She was also preceded in death by one brother and one granddaughter.
Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Mark E. WESTON, Ankeny, and Frank E. WESTON, rural Lockridge; five grandchildren; also one sister, Mrs. Laird HAGIE, Burlington.
