Transcriber note: This obituary is transcribed from a obituary transcription made by Wayne R PARSONS (d.2008) who provided a substantial Parsons family genealogy collection to the Fairfield Public Library. Unfortunately, he did not specifically source the newspaper and date of publication.

Stanza and her husband, Jesse Ware PARSONS, died in Mankato, KS and this obituary may have appeared there first, from which Wayne transcribed it. If a Jefferson County newspaper source and/or republication date can eventually be located it will be so noted.

-------

Stanza Catherine ALLERDICE, the daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth ALLERDICE was born at Mystic, Iowa, near Fairfield, Jefferson County, June 11, 1872 and died October 26, 1957, at her home in Mankato, Kansas, at the age of eighty-five years. In her early years she lived with her grandpaprents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter RIZOR.

Her education was in the public schools of her home town until she found employment as a seamstress at a nearby dress shop, where she continued until she went to Mankato, Kansas to be the bride of her sweetheart, Jesse Ware PARSONS, who had already purchased a farm in Jewell County, and established their home.

They were married in 1892 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hays B. WHITE at their home west of Mankato. Mrs. WHITE (sic. Diana PARSONS WHITE) was the sister of the groom.

By continual industry and kindly neighborliness they made a distinct place for themselves in the community.

Six sons and one daughter were born to Mr. and Mrs. PARSONS. The first son, Jerome Laval died in infancy. She is survived by Glenn of Wendell, Idaho, Leslie of Bliss, Idaho, Newell of Kansas City, Kansas, Ray, Leo and Elsie of Mankato.

She had four brothers and three sisters. One sister, Mrs. James BLYTHE of Mystic, Iowa, and one brother, Will ALLERDICE of Maryville, Mo., survives her.

She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, who gave her the loving appellation of "Grandma Kate".

Her first interest in life was always her family, for whom she lived, and they have repaid that love by continuous consideration and devotion through the years of her affliction - which was the loss of ther eyesight for the last eight years. During this time she continued her service to them by knitting many Afgans for her loved ones.

In her active years her first interest was always her family then her good neighbors and friends - the early church society and the neighborhood womens' club. She made her home with her daughter and son, Elsie and Ray and they gave her loving care and devotion.
