VANCE, James H. -- James H. VANCE, 55, of Keosauqua, died at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Elsa Lawry officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Open visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Family visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Center Village Care Center activity fund may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 209 S. Gate Circle, Apt. B, Fairfield 52556.

Mr. VANCE was born Oct. 15, 1954, in Bloomfield, the son of Wyatt and Betty ANDREWS VANCE.

Mr. VANCE spent his early years in Milton and attended Iowa schools for the deaf in Council Bluffs and Glenwood. He returned to his home in Milton for a time and lived at Center Village Care Center in rural Keosauqua for the last 20 years. He had worked at Tenco Industries, Inc. workshops in Ottumwa and Fairfield and at the Van Buren County Recycling Center in Keosauqua.

Mr. VANCE was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Milton. He regularly participated in the Van Buren County Crop Walk.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Betty and Sam KREIDER of Fairfield; and three sisters, Rebecca McDANEL and husband David of Ottumwa, Patricia KLEIBOEKER and husband Mark of Kansas City, Mo., and Sheila VANCE and husband Tim GRIEM of Hopkinton.

He was preceded in death by his father.
