STOVER, Joan WHITEHILL -- Joan WHITEHILL STOVER age 83 of Fairfield died December 31, 2009 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
Joan was born January 18, 1926 in Marshalltown, Iowa the daughter of William N. and Adaline THAYER WHITEHILL. She graduated from Marshalltown High School and attended Grinnell College and Rockford Colege before marrying Stanley R. STOVER on August 22, 1947 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Marshalltown. He died on November 8, 1989.
Joan and Stan moved their family to Fairfield in 1962. She enjoyed membership in Chapter HA, P.E.O.; Jefferson County Genealogical Society; Chapter E, T.T.T.; Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary and Trinity Episcopal Church in Ottumwa.
Her hobbies and interests included reading, playing bridge and traveling.
Survivors include two daughters Sharyn STOVER of Glendale, Oregon and her friend, Sara Carter; Peggy SMALL and husband Jeff of Fairfield, one son Brad STOVER and wife Vicky of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, 5 grandchildren: Jason WHITE, Jeremy and Kevin SMALL, Jon and Chelsea STOVER, one great granddaughter Sydney and one brother William N. WHITEHILL Jr. and wife Beverly of Marshalltown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother George WHITEHILL.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Ottumwa on Friday at 1:30 P.M. with Father Vincent Bete officiating.
Family visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Following cremation interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.
Memorials may be made to The Lord's Cupboard, Fairfield Public Library, or Trinity Episcopal Church.
Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
