POLLOCK, Frances -- Frances POLLOCK, 76, of Douds, died at 4:40 a.m. today, Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

POLLOCK, Frances A. -- Frances A. POLLOCK, 76, of Douds, died at 4:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, with the Rev. Ann Donat and the Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.

Family visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Open visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Memorials to Christ United Methodist Church or Mount Moriah Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at 2852 N. 500th Ave., Ames 50014.

Mrs. POLLOCK was born Sept. 28, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Frank and Regenia URBAN JONES. She married Roscoe Larry POLLOCK June 22, 1968, in Anchorage, Alaska. He died June 24, 1983.

Mrs. POLLOCK lived her childhood in Milwaukee and moved with her parents to Miltonvale, Kan., where she attended high school, graduating in 1951. She then attended Miltonvale Wesleyan College, graduated from Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kan., and earned a master's degree in library science from a university in Denver, Colo. She taught elementary school in Kansas and was a teacher and librarian in public schools in Anchorage. She and her husband built their new home in his hometown, Douds, in 1980. She was librarian at Cardinal High School in Eldon for several years.

Mrs. POLLOCK was a member of the Methodist church in Anchorage and Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, where she was choir director and a member of several committees and the administrative board. She also belonged to United Methodist Women. She was a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star in Miltonvale, a past patron of Order of Eastern Star Twin City Chapter No. 258 of Douds and a past president of PEO Chapter AD of Milton. She was a member of TTT Douds Chapter, Alpha Sigma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma teachers' sorority, and Douds Community Club.

Survivors include one stepbrother, Larry BOWSER, and one stepsister, Vera EDWARDS, both of Kansas City, Mo.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her stepmother, Floy JONES.

POLLOCK, Frances A. -- The funeral for Frances A. POLLOCK, 76, of Douds, who died Dec. 21, 2009, has been postponed until 2 p.m. Monday at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds.

Visitation, with family present, will be 1-2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is in charge of arrangements.
