PARKER, Leland V. -- Leland V. PARKER, 89, of Agency, died at 5:15 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Jim Wakelin officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery with military services conducted by American Legion OB Nelson Post No. 3 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will be present 10-11 a.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research Center, 640 Jackson St., St. Paul, MN 55101.

Mr. PARKER was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Blakesburg, the son of Vern and Eura SMITH PARKER. He married Lois L. HESTON Sept. 22, 1942. She preceded him in death June 29, 2009.

Mr. PARKER served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked at Fairfield Aluminum Castings Co. in Fairfield for 25 years. He retired in 1985.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra HULSLANDER of Geneseo, Ill., and Vicky SWARTZENDRUBER of Bettendorf; one son, Larry PARKER of Fletcher, Vt.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; two sisters, Cora JOHNSON and Eva ELLIOTT; and one brother, Wayne PARKER.
