ANGSTEAD, Harold Samuel 'Coly' -- Harold Samuel "Coly" ANGSTEAD, 97, of Washington state, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009.

Mr. ANGSTEAD was born June 24, 1912, the son of Harold S. and Nellie E. NOTT ANGSTEAD. He married Esther BAUGHMAN.

Mr. ANGSTEAD was Fairfield's only motorcycle policeman in the 1940s. He had served several years in the United States Navy and was awarded two Purple Hearts for his service during World War II.

Survivors include one sister, Harriett GUSTASON of Freeport, Ill.; two brothers, Don ANGSTEAD of Fairfield and Bill ANGSTEAD of Keosauqua; and one daughter, Colleen, who died hours after Mr. ANGSTEAD.

He was preceded in death by one son.
