Rites Friday -
Mrs. John BALL Dies

Mrs. John L. BALL, 67, 107 W. Washington, died Tuesday at 3:40 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital following an extended illness. Her husband preceded her in death two weeks ago.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John R. Dilley and the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

The casket will be taken from the Raymond Funeral Home to the church at 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Mrs. BALL, the former Gladys M. McCLAIN, was a high school and college teacher for more than 40 years.

She was born Oct. 30, 1907 in Fairfield, the daughter of Fred and Alta PARKER McCLAIN. She was reared and educated in this community. She received her undergraduate degree at Parsons College and her MA degree at the University of Iowa. She also did graduate study at Northwestern and Purdue Universities.

She was married to John L. BALL on Sept. 12, 1935. He died May 5, 1975.

Mrs. BALL taught in the high schools of Keosauqua, Pleasant Plain and Fairfield. She was also a member of the Parsons College faculty for several years, teaching drama and English.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Alpha Gamma Delta and Delta Kappa Gamma Sororities and Chaper HA of PEO.

Mrs. BALL is survived by one sister, Mrs. Clarence THOMAS, Denver, Colo.; one brother, Charles McCLAIN, Fairfield; three nephews and one niece. One brother and one sister are deceased.

YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED THAT ON THE 28TH DAY OF MAY, 1975, THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF GLADYS McCLAIN BALL, DECEASED, BEARING DATE OF THE 21ST DAY OF DECEMBER, 1968, WAS ADMITTED TO PROBATE IN THE ABOVE NAMED COURT AND THAT IOWA STATE BANK & TRUST COMPANY WAS APPOINTED EXECUTOR OF SAID ESTATE.
