MRS. J.N. SMITH DIED YESTERDAY

Well Known Old Resident Passed Peacefully Away at 5:45 P.M.

Mrs. Isabelle TAYLOR SMITH, a well known resident of Fairfield died at her home, 305 East Burlington Street yesterday afternoon at 5:45 o'clock. Her passing was calm and peaceful and followed a week' illness.

Funeral services will be held at the home tomorrow afternoon at 5 o'clock and will be in charge of Rev. H. Sears Thomson, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Interment will be at Evergreen cemetery. The pallbearers will be J.L. RANEY and J.C. THORNE, members with her of the Presbyterian church at Birmingham of which she was a member as a girl, M.W. ROTH, C.W. WADE, Lloyd TALLEY and O.D. STUBBS.

Mrs. Smith was born in Lanskail, Harry, Orkney Isles, Scotland, November 18, 1846 and came to this country with her parents when they left Scotland to seek greater religious freedom. They were members of the Free Presbyterian church, as opposed to the State Presbyterians. Mrs. Smith was a staunch and faithful member of that denomination and was an indefatigable worker in its cause. She was much interested in all its activities, and was committed to the growth of Parsons college. She never sought the leadership in her work, but was a most faithful toller in the ranks and was keenly interested in all that was being done for Fairfield.

The TAYLOR family settled near Birmingham and there May 7, 1868 she married James SMITH, who died March 25, 1904. She is survived by two sons, E.R. SMITH and Harry S SMITH, both of Fairfield and by three sisters, Mrs. M.J. PREWETT of York, Nebr.; Mrs. D.G. DANA of Fairfield and Mrs. C.P. WORK of Milton, Iowa.
