HAMM, Velma E. -- Velma E. HAMM, 91, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Bryan Katchay officiating. Burial will be in Salem South Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit and Salem South Cemetery.

Mrs. HAMM was born June 24, 1918, in Washington County, the daughter of Harry and Clara TSCHANTZ STUTZMAN. She married Jay L. HAMM May 22, 1937, in Memphis, Mo. He died Sept. 17, 2007.
Mrs. HAMM was a homemaker and often baked bread, cookies and cakes for family.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, playing bingo and visiting.
Survivors include three sons, Art HAMM and wife Beverly of Winfield, Don HAMM and wife Cheryl of Sioux City and Bob HAMM and wife Judy of Dixon, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dale STUTZMAN of Lockridge.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, four sisters and three brothers.
