April 17, 1924S.S. WRIGHT Dies in Washington
Native Of Jefferson County Had Just Returned From Winter In Florida
Three days after he had returned from a winter in Floriday, S.S. WRIGHT (sic. Samuel S. WRIGHT), a native of Wooster, in Jefferson county, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Earl Cordin, 711 South Fourth avenue, Washington, Iowa, Monday morning at 9 o'clock. Funeral services were held at his late home yesterday and interment was in the Washington cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. WRIGHT had spent the last ten winters in Tampa, Fla. Their own home was not opened yet, so they went to the daughter's for a day or two as he was not feeling well.
Mr. WRIGHT was born June 27, 1851, and had lived in Illinois and various Iowa points. He was educated in Illinois and Washington academy and had taught school in Iowa for fifteen years being the superintendent of the Keota schools. He had also been president of the Farmers Saving bank at Keota.
Besides the widow and the daughter at whose home he died, he left three sons - Arthur, who has been with them in Florida; Frank WRIGHT of East Moline, and Glenn WRIGHT of Iowa City. I.N. WRIGHT of Carlinville, Ill., and Jasper WRIGHT of Fairfield are brothers, and Mrs. Mary HARBOUR of Lockridge a sister.
