H. Clay WRIGHT, 71, lifelong farm resident of the county, died this morning at the Jefferson County hospital after being seriously ill for the past month. He was brought to the local hospital last Thursday from the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines where he underwent surgery Aug. 31.
A resident of the Wooster community southeast of Fairfield, WRIGHT spent his entire life on the same farm settled by his grandfather more than a century back.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Weston-Behner Funeral home in charge of the Rev. S.P. Williamson. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
WRIGHT was born Oct. 26, 1881, the son of John and Laura RODIBAUGH (sic: RODABAUGH) WRIGHT. He was married to Dora Elizabeth MURDOCK Dec. 21, 1904. The ceremony took place on the FRY farm, near the present WRIGHT farm.
He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. W.R. BRISTOW, Fairfield. One granddaughter also survives. One son, Rex WRIGHT, was killed while serving in World War II and is buried in France.
