PLOWMAN, Dorothy Marguerite -- Dorothy Marguerite PLOWMAN, 95, of Douds, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Leando Cemetery, with the Rev. Phil Campbell officiating.

No family visitation is planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Douds United Methidost Church Kitchen or Van Buren School Foundation. Cards to the family and memorials may be sent to 15718 Gold Ave., Douds 52551.

Mrs. PLOWMAN was born June 18, 1914, in Birmingham, the daughter of Daniel and Wilamina JOHNSON SHIRK. She married Kermit PLOWMAN Aug. 17, 1933, in Blakesburg. He died May 21, 1997.

Mrs. PLOWMAN graduated from Birmingham High School and lived most of her life in the Douds community. She was a farm wife, mother and homemaker.

Mrs. PLOWMAN was a member of United Methodist Women, Women's Van Buren county Farm Bureau and Douds United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school.

She enjoyed sewing, making crafts and square dancing.

Survivors include one son, Jerry PLOWMAN and wife Martha of Douds; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lucille PIEPER and one infant brother.
