TURNER, Catherine 'Kay' SKEETERS -- Catherine (Kay) SKEETERS TURNER, 88, died peacefully at La Posada Assisted Living, Green Valley, Arizona on September 24, 2009.

She was born on October 30, 1920, in Watseka, Illinois. Kay was the daughter of Gilbert and Lena SKEETERS. She graduated from Watseka High School in 1938 and received a diploma in Secretarial Sciences from Gallagher School of Business, Kankakee, Illinois, in 1939.

Kay worked for the Navy in San Diego, California during WWII and met her husband, Harold Edward TURNER who was stationed there. They were married on April 5, 1946 in Hamilton, Illinois.

Kay worked as an executive secretary for many years at Monsanto Corporation, St. Louis, Missouri. After she and her husband Harold retired in 1992, they moved to Green Valley, Arizona.

Kay is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Harold Edward TURNER; three daughters, Michele NIMERICK and her husband Gerald NIMERICK of Austin, Texas, Barbara McMAHON and her husband Patrick McMAHON of Fairfield, Iowa, and Krista LANDGRAF of Chino, California; and one son, Thomas TURNER and his wife Karen of Fort Worth, Texas. Additional survivors are nine grandchldren, Catherine WARREN, Melissa HALL and James WARREN; Daniel, Timothy and Molly McMAHON; Amy, Andrew and Allison LANDGRAF; and five great-grandchildren Brianna and Ryan HALL, Emily and Colin WARREN-BOWEN, and Joseph PASLY.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 26, in the chapel at La Joya Assisted Living. She was interred in the Columbarium at Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley.

A memorial scholarship fund is being established in her name through the Greater Jefferson County Foundation.
