KNERR, Jack E. Sr. -- Jack E. KNERR Sr., 75, formerly of Brighton, died at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at United Presbyterian Home in Washington, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

KNERR, Jack E. -- Jack E. KNERR, 75, formerly of Brighton, died at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at United Presbyterian Home in Washington, Iowa, following a brief illness.

A service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Church of God in Brighton, with the Rev. Ryan Meader officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Hook Cemetery near Brighton.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton, where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at 30541 150th St., Stockport 52651.

Mr. KNERR was born June 4, 1934, in Brighton, the son of Roy and Belva V. FARRIER KNERR. He married Alvina CRAWFORD, and she preceded him in death. He married Sandra L. VAN AUKEN May 22, 1962, in Washington. She died Aug. 29, 1998.

Mr. KNERR grew up in Brighton and attended Brighton schools. He worked on the railroad for 18 years and for Crane Valve for 10 years before retiring.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandy KNERR and Duane RICHARDSON of Libertyville and Sonya McHUGH and husband Pat of Stockport; three sons, Harold KNERR and wife Bobbi of Reed Springs, Mo., Merle KNERR and wife Pat of Washington and Jackie KNERR and wife Theresa of Brighton; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna CRAWFORD of Washington and Lois FREEMAN of Danville; and three brothers, Bob and Larry KNERR of Washington and Richard KNERR of Wellman.

In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, one great-granddaughter and two brothers, Gene and LeRoy KNERR.
