Doris DAVIS, 86, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Pekin Hospital in Pekin, Ill.

Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Doris M. DAVIS, 86, of Pekin, Il, passed away at 10:43 p.m. Sept. 5, 2009, at Pekin Memorial Hospital, Pekin, Il.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, September 14, 2009, at the Raymond Funeral Home, Fairfield. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Sunday at the Raymond Funeral Home. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield. Pastor Frosty Van Voorst will officiate at the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.raymondfuneralhomes.com .

She was born on March 18, 1923 in Libertyville, Iowa to John Lewis and Mary Elizabeth (TWEEDY) McCLEARY. She attended Libertyville High School for her freshman year. Then after her family moved to County Line, she graduated from Batavia, Iowa High School in class of 1940. She met Clyde L. DAVIS the boy next door who won her heart and were high school sweathearts (sic). After graduation a year behind Clyde they were married Sept. 14, 1940 in Lancaster, Mo.

He preceded her in death on May 13, 2005.

To this union two daughters were born; Patricia JENKINS, Fairfield, Ia and Marilyn (Russ) KELLER, Pekin, Il; 4 grandchildren, Laura KING, Pekin, Il; David (Mardell) WILSON, Bloomington, Il; Rhonda WHITE, Fairfield, Ia; Larry (Susan) WHITE, Buxton, N.D; 8 great grandchildren, Nicholis (Amanda) KING, Pekin, Il; Jennifer KING, Pekin, Il; Chelsey WHITE, Fairfield, Ia; Matthew WHITE, Ollie, Ia; Melissa KING, Pekin, Il; Cody WHITE, Fairfield, Ia; Jonah and Elliott WILSON, Bloomington, Il; 1 step granddaughter, Debbie (John) BAILEY, Leavenworth, Ks; 5 step grandchildren; Chris and Casey HETTERVIG, Buxton, N.D; Cody SMITH, Leavenworth, Ks, and U.S. Army in Korea; Evan and Logan BAILEY, Leavenworth, Ks; sister-in-law June (Davis) FISH, Corrinth, Tx.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Arlene (Robert) CHATFIELD and Wilma "Pat" (Leonard) CURTIS; and brother-in-law, Charles FISH.

Doris was a professional musician and taught piano and organ in her home over 60 years. She loved to play for anyone who would listen.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family in memory of Doris.

She resided at Grand Victorian assisted living in Pekin, and was formerly of Fairfield, Ia. She was born on March 18, 1923 in Libertyville, Ia. to John Lewis and Mary Elizabeth (TWEEDY) McCLEARY. Her family moved to County Line where she met Clyde DAVIS the boy next door. They became high school sweethearts and shared their musical talent. Doris graduated from Batavia, Ia. high school with the class of 1940. Clyde Luverne DAVIS and Doris Maida McCLEARY were married Sept. 14, 1940 in Lancaster, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Wilma "Pat" CURTIS and Arlene CHATFIELD and her husband on May 13, 2005. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Eastern Star. Doris was a professional musician and church pianist/organist for over 64 years, playing for hundreds of weddings, funerals and special community events. She and her husband also entertained regularly in Arizona and Iowa, Clyde playing electric guitar and Doris on Piano. Doris and Clyde enjoyed 27 years of retirement with winters in Yuma, Az, and summers in Fairfield. They were married almost 65 years. Doris was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother who was an inspiration to others with her amazing zest for life.

Memorials may be given to the family in memory of Doris.
