EVANS, Elsie Mae -- Elsie Mae EVANS, 89, of rural Fairfield, died today, Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home.

EVANS, Elsie Mae -- Elsie Mae EVANS, 89, of 2655 189th St., died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at home.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Marvin Robeck officiating. Interment will be in Salina Cemetery at Salina.

Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, Salina Cemetery Association or Hospice of Central Iowa.

Mrs. EVANS was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Salina, the daughter of Henry and Mabel PETERSON LARSON. She married Norval B. EVANS June 21, 1947, in Salina.

Mrs. EVANS was a lifetime resident of the Salina community. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1938 and attended Parsons College. She was a rural schoolteacher in Crawfordsville, Eldon and Salina prior to her marriage.

Mrs. EVANS was a member of First Lutheran church. She was formerly a member of Bertha Rex Circle, Good Cheer Society and PEO. She had served on the board of Salina Cemetery and was instrumental in the organization of the Jefferson County Rural Water District.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Christine KEYSER and husband Earl of Fairfield; and one granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Raymond LARSON.
