MEHMERT, Agatha T. -- Agatha T. MEHMERT, 87, of Fort Dodge died Monday, April 24, 2000, at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with the Rev. Paul Connolly officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jones and Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, with family present from 5-7 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Mrs. MEHMERT was born Nov. 4, 1912, in Harper, the daughter of Bernard J. and Caroline CONRAD PAULY. She married Ben MEHMERT on her birthday in 1935 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington. He died in 1991.
Formerly of Eagle Grove and Clarion, she lived in Fort Dodge until her death, farming for 37 years with her husband northeast of Fairfield. She attended St. Elizabeth School in Harper and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, as well as the Altar and Rosary Society.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna STEELE of Renwick; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eulalia ZUMDOME and Marion MILLER, both of Fort Madison, and Margaret PACHA of Iowa City.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Herbert and Bernard; and four sisters, twins Gwendoline and Genevieve and two infants.
