PEIFFER, Helen G. -- Helen Genevieve PEIFFER, 91, formerly of Brighton, died at 4:22 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, at United Presbyterian Home in Washington, Iowa.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

PEIFFER, Helen Genevieve -- Helen Genevieve PEIFFER, 91, formerly of Brighton, died at 4:22 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, at United Presbyterian Home in Washington, Iowa.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Saints Joseph and Cabrini Church in East Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. Paul J. Appel officiating. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.

Open visitation will begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton, with the family present from 6:30-7:30 p.m., followed by Prayers for a Christian Wake at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for United Presbyterian Home in Washington, Iowa.

Mrs. PEIFFER was born Nov. 2, 1917, near Tallyrand, the daughter of John W. and Mary Ann LAHR GREINER. She married Ralph Joseph PEIFFER April 28, 1937, in Clear Creek. He died May 9, 1964.

Mrs. PEIFFER attended Clear Creek County School north of Richland. She and her husband lived on a farm south of Brighton for about 30 years. She helped her husband farm. She moved to Washington Nov. 2, 1974.

Mrs. PEIFFER was a member of Saint James Catholic Church in Washington, Altar and Rosary Society, Burr Oak Club and Business and Professional Women.

Survivors include four children, Jeanette EDWARDS and husband Dean of Brighton, Donald L. PEIFFER and wife Judy of Ottumwa and Elaine DRAP and Glen PEIFFER, both of Santa Clarita, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Mary Ann GREINER, Margaret GREINER and Orina CHALUPA; and four brothers, Fred, Lawrence, Reynold and Cyril GREINER.
