SLOAN, D. Harley -- D. Harley SLOAN, 94, of rural Eldon, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Bloomfield Care Center.
Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

SLOAN, David Harley -- David Harley SLOAN, 94, of rural Eldon, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Bloomfield Care Center.
A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Eldon Christian Church, with the Rev. Joshua Gordon officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in rural Floris.
Open visitation began at 2 p.m. today at the church, where family will be present from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials to Eldon Christian Church may be left at the church or may be mailed to the family at 31763 Venus Trail, Eldon 52554.
Arrangements are in the care of Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.
Mr. SLOAN was born Aug. 13, 1914, near Eldon, the son of Floyd E. and Fanny Fern DAVIS SLOAN. He married Verna L. MELVIN July 16, 1938, in Bloomfield.
Mr. SLOAN graduated from Eldon High School in 1933 and attended Iowa Success School in Ottumwa. He spent most of his life farming in the Eldon area.
Mr. SLOAN was a member of Eldon Christian Church, where he served as an elder and trustee. He also had served on several boards in Davis and Wapello counties.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry SLOAN and wife Beverly and Jim SLOAN of Eldon; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Otis SLOAN and two infants.
