EDEN, Gwendolyn JEFFERY HELMICK -- Gwendolyn Faith JEFFERY HELMICK EDEN, 74, of Farmington, died at noon Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A celebration of life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Shawn McAfee and the Rev. Herb Doty officiating. Interment will be in Charleston Cemetery.

Open visitation began at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 7-8:30 p.m.

Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 201 S. Third St., Apt.1, Farmington 52626.

Mrs. EDEN was born Oct. 17, 1934, in Winfield, the daughter of Edwin and Nina NEWMAN JEFFERY. She married Charles LaMar HELMICK Jan. 7, 1952. He died in 1988. She married Fredrick John EDEN Aug. 18, 1990.

Mrs. EDEN graduated from Donnellson High School. She lived most of her life in the New Boston, Bonaparte and Farmington areas. She was a high school secretary and an elementary school teacher's associate in the Central Lee school district for several years, and she was also administrator of the Kings Daughters Home in Fort Madison from 1990 until its closing.

Mrs. EDEN was a member of Peaksville Christian Church in Peaksville, Mo. She was a member of the former Order of the Eastern Star Martha Chapter in Montrose, in which she held many offices, and was a current member of Artaban Chapter No. 483 of Donnellson. She was a member of Bonaparte Red Hat Society. She had been a 4-H leader for five years.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Laurie SIMMONS and husband John of Keosauqua and Wendy BUFORD and husband Jeff of Donnellson; one son, Jeff HELMICK and wife Bobbi of Keokuk; one stepdaughter, Cathy RUTH and husband Sam of Bonaparte; two stepsons, Rick EDEN and wife Cynthia and John EDEN and wife Dayle, all of Bonaparte; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Yvonne HAWKINS of Montrose.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one stepson, James; and one granddaughter.
