Alice CUPP MARSHALL, 92, of Ankeny, formerly of Fairfield, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Alice Belle CUPP MARSHALL

Alice Belle CUPP MARSHALL age 92 of Ankeny died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at her home.

She was born November 13, 1916 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin H. and Ollie Mabel DAVIDSON WARD. She was the oldest of 6 children and helped raise her siblings. Alice grew up in Washington County and graduated from Washington High School in 1935.

She married Lester R. CUPP on September 17, 1938 at Memphis, Missouri, they lived in Keota before moving North of Fairfield in 1945, they moved to Fairfield in 1954. He died on July 26, 1980, she later married Glenn MARSHALL on December 5, 1992 in Fairfield.

She and Lester owned and operated the Cupp Cafe on the south side of the Fairfield square from 1961 until 1966. They managed the Ranch Motel for 15 years, she worked at the Fairfield Glove Company, at Wray's Cleaners and at Parsons College.

Alice was a member of the First Christian Church in Fairfield, CWF, the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary and Keep Young Club.

Deceased family members include her husband Lester CUPP, her parents, 2 sisters in infancy, 2 brothers Albert WARD and Donald WARD, a sister Myrla AYRES and daughter-in-law Carla CUPP.

Surviving are her husband Glen MARSHALL of Ankeny; her son Larry CUPP and wife Joan of Ankeny, 1 step-daughter Mary (John) GAW of Jefferson City, Missouri, 1 granddaughter Chris (Dave) MULLINS of Ankeny, 2 grandsons Jeff (Barb) CUPP and Rob (Angela) CUPP all of Polk City, IA and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:15 P.M. Saturday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with Pastor Suzanne Swahn and Pastor Rick Miller officiating.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday beginning at 1:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral at 2:15 P.M.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Fairfield.

Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
