HESSE, Mildred E. -- Mildred E. HESSE, 80, of Bloomfield, formerly of rural Selma, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at home.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. David Albert officiating. Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery in rural Davis County.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 614 N. Washington St., Bloomfield 52537.

HESSE, Mildred E. -- Mildred E. HESSE, 80, of Bloomfield, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at home.

Mrs. HESSE was born Aug. 22, 1928, in Calamus, the daughter of George and Minnie GOODELL. She married Marvin F. HESSE Nov. 27, 1946, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua. He died March 18, 2008.

Mrs. HESSE grew up in the Calamus and Dixon area. She lived for a time in Missouri and moved with her family to their farm in rural Selma in 1950. She retired to Bloomfield in 1996. Mrs. HESSE was a farm homemaker.

She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, completing crossword puzzles and reading.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald HESSE of Bloomfield and Marlin HESSE of Ottumwa; one daughter, Linda WARE and husband John of Bloomfield; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Arlond GOODELL of Davenport.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Raymond and Edward GOODELL.
