JOHNSON, Arnold Fry -- Arnold Fry JOHNSON, 86, of Keosauqua, formerly of Stockport, died at 7 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2009, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Mark Caston officiating. Burial, with military rites by American Legion Elvin E. Cecil Post No. 147 of Stockport, will be in Hillsboro Cemetery.
Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6:30-8 p.m.
Memorials to Hillsboro Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to PO Box 513, Keosauqua 52565.
Mr. JOHNSON was born July 28, 1922, near Packwood, the son of Rex and Cordelia FRY JOHNSON.
Mr. JOHNSON attended Hillsboro High School and graduated from Salem High School. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1949. He had lived in Texas, Rhode Island and Rochester, N.Y., and had lived most of his working life in Chicago, Ill., where he worked for several insurance companies, including General Accident Ltd. for 22 years. He retired in 1984 and moved to Stockport in 1986. He had resided at Village Terrace in Keosauqua since October 2008.
Mr. JOHNSON served in the United States Army in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was a member of Iowa I Club, Stockport Lions Club and Fairfield Elks Lodge. He was a past commander of American Legion Elvin E. Cecil Post No. 147 of Stockport.
He was a Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include his special friend, Fredda "Fritzi" WRIGHT of Ankeny.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Max, Howard and Kenneth JOHNSON.
