Rosalie B. VAN DYKE PEEBLER -- Rosalie B. Van DYKE PEEBLER, 88, of Wheaton, Ill., died Wednesday, Jan 28, 2009, at home.

A service was held Feb. 2 at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton. Interment was in Wheaton Cemetery.

Mrs. PEEBLER was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Washington County, Iowa, the daughter of Wilbert and Magdalena ZIELINSKY VAN DYKE. She married Ralph V. PEEBLER.

Mrs. PEEBLER graduated from Fairfield High School in 1938 and received her bachelor's degree in teaching from Parsons College in 1942. She taught at Libertyville High School for one year, and then taught physical education at Fairfield High School until she married. After all her children entered high school, Mrs. PEEBLER began working at Kroehler Manufacturing in Naperville, Ill., and later worked in the men's clothing department at Colson's in Wheaton.

She enjoyed playing bridge with friends, feeding the birds and watching cardinals at her bird feeder. She also enjoyed kittens.

Survivors include her husband; four children, Cynthia PEEBLER of Wheaton, Lezli ROGERS and husband Tom of San Diego, Calif., Steven PEEBLER of Chicago, Ill., and Ralph PEEBLER and wife Michelle of Ramona, Calif.; two granddaughters; and one brother, Robert WYSOSKE of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gale VAN DYKE.

Rosalie B. Peebler of Wheaton -- Visitation for Rosalie B. Peebler, 88, will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon Monday, Feb. 2, at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Interment will follow in Wheaton Cemetery. Born Aug. 11, 1920, in Washington County, Iowa, she passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at home. Rosalie received a bachelor of arts in teaching at Parson's College in Fairfield, Iowa. She was a physical education teacher at Fairfield High School in Fairfield, Iowa. After her children were all in high school, she started working at Kroehler Manufacturing in Naperville, and later worked in the men's clothing department at Colson's in Wheaton. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, playful kittens, taking time out of her day to feed the birds and watching the cardinals at the bird feeder. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Ralph V. Peebler; four children, Cynthia Peebler of Wheaton and Lezli (Tom) Rogers of San Diego, Calif., Steven Peebler of Chicago and Ralph (Michelle) Peebler of Ramona, Calif.; granddaughters, Jessica and Vanessa; her brother, Robert Wysoske of Davenport, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Magdalena (nee Zielinsky) Van Dyke; and her brother, Gale Van Dyke. Memorial gifts may be directed to the charity of your choice.
