McCRACKEN, Doris -- Doris McCRACKEN, 95, formerly of Richland, died early today, Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

McCRACKEN, Doris -- Doris McCRACKEN, 95, formerly of Richland, died early Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Richland United Methodist Church in Richland, with the Rev. Willy Morfitt officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, with the family present from 5-6:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richland United Methodist Church.

Mrs. McCRACKEN was born May 20, 1913, northeast of Richland, the daughter of William and Lyda BOND REIGHARD. She was raised by stepparents Wesley and Leora BOND. She married Clifford McCRACKEN Sept. 20, 1933, in Agency. He died Aug. 23, 1998.

Mrs. McCRACKEN grew up near Richland and graduated from Richland High School in 1930. She lived her entire life in Richland until moving to the Des Moines area in 2005. She worked for the Richland Telephone Co. as an operator and at Hadley Nursing Home in Richland. She and her husband owned and operated the Richland Cafe and Richland Dry Goods Store. Later, she worked at the Richland Post Office for 14 years, until retiring in 1977.

Mrs. McCRACKEN was a member of Richland United Methodist Church and the Priscilla Club.

She enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include two daughters, Julia HOLLINGSWORTH and husband Clark of Little Rock, Ark., and Janet WALL and husband Richard of Johnston; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; stepparents; one daughter Judy JOHNSON; nine sisters; and ten brothers, including her twin, Donald.
