HOOTMAN, Darrell R. -- Darrell R. HOOTMAN, 58, of Mascoutha, Ill., formerly of Douds, died at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

HOOTMAN, Darrell R. 'Hooty' -- Darrell R. "Hooty" HOOTMAN, 58, of Mascoutah, Ill., formerly of Douds, died at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. The body has been cremated.

Family visitation will follow Saturday's service at the funeral home.

Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to Cindy HOOTMAN at 100 George St., Mascoutah, IL 62258.

Mr. HOOTMAN was born Aug. 27, 1950, the son of Lester and Erma POOL HOOTMAN. He married Cindy BRACKEY May 29, 1999.

Mr. HOOTMAN grew up in the Oak Grove neighborhood, east of Douds. He graduated from Van Buren Community High School in 1968 and went on to graduate from Creston Community College. He owned and operated his own body shop on the family farm and was employed by the Van Buren County Road Department and Douds Stone Inc. He also managed the Midwest Airgas plant in Ankeny, where he retired in 2003.

Survivors include his wife; five children, Gabe HOOTMAN and wife Amy of Grimes, Michele CECEHINI of Mount Pleasant, Brandi CARLTON and husband Ray of Highland, Ill., Danny BRACKEY and wife Michelle of Mascoutah, Ill., and Josh BRACKEY of Mascoutah, Ill.; eight grandchildren; one brother, Wayne HOOTMAN; and one sister, Imogene PEACOCK of Douds.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dennis HOOTMAN; and one sister, Juanita HOOTMAN.
